With all of the framing and preparation completed it is time to start decking installation. The deck boards are cut to approximate length then installed. After all the boards are installed then they will be trimmed in place prior to the accent boards being installed.
5/22 – Started by installing the accent board that separates the east from the center section. This has to be square. Next, I installed the first four boards on the angle.
5/27 – Finished installing decking on the eastern section.
5/29 – Installed decking in the center section. Stopped near the house so that I could add a hatch so that we have access to the dryer vent. Note that the boards all have different lengths at the front edge. They will all be trimmed in place so that they are even.
5/31 – Finished decking the center section, including the access hatch. Then I trimmed all of the boards and installed the accent board.
6/1 – Cut and fit the accent board for the east side. But I miscalculated how I was going to do the corners so that will need to be reworked.
