11/24/2022 – Emerald Ash Borers strike. During a recent walk about in the back yard I noticed one of my bigger trees had an almost yellowish color. Upon closer inspection, I found that woodpeckers had drilled holes from near the ground to high into the tree. I had noticed that the tree was not doing well and assumed it was ash borer. The woodpecker damage confirms it. Turns out there is another smaller ash nearby with the same damage. Both trees will have to come down later in the year or next spring.
The lighter color is due to wood peckers drilling for ash borers.
