2023 Pheasant Hunting – Week 11 Recap
This is the week 11 recap of the 2023 pheasant hunting season. We saw lots of hens but very few roosters which is typical of last season hunting.
Pheasant hunting is a passion for Jeff. Starting as a teenager he hunted pheasants with his family. From college through most of his working career he did not hunt. In the mid 2000s, he acquired his first German Shorthair Pointer and became a passionate pheasant hunter. Starting in mid-October through mid-January, Jae becomes a pheasant widow.

During a recent hunt we used a team effort to find a rooster, get him to flush and retrieve him after he was shot.
This was a short week in that there was only one trip. We covered 3 areas and got one bird. The video is short but does contain a couple bloopers.

With better weather we were able to get out for three days starting with a local trip plus a two day trip to Iowa.
In week 6, the weather changed to be much more favorable for the dogs. But my usual partners were unavailable due to injuries or scheduling conflicts. I ended up going twice by myself. I was able to harvest a bird on both trips, so things worked out.
