This post is about an air intake cover that I made during the deck rebuild.
During an energy audit we discovered that the fresh air intake into the Utility room was too small, considering the water heater and two furnaces. This was real obvious when we tried to use the fireplace and ended up with smoke being sucked into the utility room.
To rectify this we had a larger fresh air intake added but to meet code they had to build a sheet metal structure that projected above the deck. As you can see in the photo gallery below, it was not appealing to look at.
After I finished rebuilding the deck, I built a cover for the air intake that matched the deck.
