With the construction phase done, the next step is staining. I use a clear stain because in subsequent years all I need to do is pressure wash it and apply a new coat.
7/21 – Caught a break on the weather. Mid-80s with low humidity. I was able to stain the skirt boards and the railings. Before I can do the deck itself, I need to clean off some mud in spots.
7/24 – Stained the deck boards. Weather was cool and I did it late afternoon. The stain really soaked in, which is good, but I will need to apply another coat.
7/30 – Second coat of stain on the deck boards.
The railings have a coat of stain.
The railings and skirt boards now have been stained.
