In the previous post (Shed Build – Construction – Part 1), the wall sections were constructed flat on the ground. Now it was time to stand them up and make a shed. The following steps were captured in a time lapse video that is linked below.
With the assistance of two friends and the tractor we stood up the north wall and braced it into place. The three of us lifted the east wall and muscled it into position and connected it to the north wall. Next came the west wall, which was lifted and slid into position. Using the tractor we moved the south wall into its spot and fastened everything together. It only took about 30 minutes to get the walls up and connected together.
Next, we fine tuned the wall positions before drilling through the bottom plates and driving TapCon concrete bolts to hold everything into place. Cary drilled the holes, which was a tough and dusty job. Mike drove all of the bolts which was noisy. This step was probably the most tedious and physically taxing of the whole build.
We then moved on and put the trusses in place. Mike would carry a truss in, lift it into place. Cary would fine tune the position and I would drive screws to hold them in place. The last step was to install a ridge board. This required team work to fine tune the truss spacing. With the ridge board in place we were done for the day.
