While I am waiting for my crew to be available I worked on installing the track that the sliding barn door will roll on. The height of the track is dependent on the height of the door.
Using the formula from the instructions, I calculated the required height and marked it on the wall. My first inclination was to use a level to draw the line across the wall but I soon realized that the concrete slab actually slopes a little to the west (left). So I measured up from the slab and drew the line so it would be parallel with the slab.
I pre-drilled a couple holes then test mounted a piece of the track so that I could mark and drill the other required holes. When I drilled the holes for the right side of the track there was nothing but siding. So, I added additional blocking inside the shed to run the bolts into.
Once all of the holes were drilled I took the track off and mounted a connected pair of tracks. This track spans the width of the shed. Once the track was in place, I added the stops to prevent the door from running off of the tracks.
The next step is to hang a door on the track and verify the height as well as the travel. I do have a concern that the way I mounted the door hardware combined with the thickness of the door I might have a problem.
