My original plan was to make items to sell at craft fairs but when I checked out a couple craft fairs I soon realized that there are already a lot of people doing it. It would be tough to compete and still make any money. So, now I just make stuff for family and friends.
I mostly use Cedar, since it is readily available and easy to work with. In particular, I find that most things can be made using Cedar fence slats which are especially cheap.
